Be Happy on Purpose

To live the life you really want, you must first figure out what that means. Many people drift into the workplace without much planning or forethought. Sometimes a friend or parent will influence the decision.Years later they are stuck in a job that they don’t enjoy,or one that has limited opportunity for advancement.

Most folks are as happy as they make up their mind to be -Abraham Lincoln

Many,as Thoreau said, are living lives of quiet desperation.

Are you crystal clear about what you want from life? Have you identified your top priorities? Who do you want to spend more time with? What places do you want to visit? What goals do you want to accomplish? Or have you settled into a routine where one week seems to blur into the next and there’s never any time to think or plan? When you are stuck in routine, maybe life is okay at one level but at another level you still have dreams, even if they are somewhat faded. These dreams can include things you like to do and experience,or feelings you ‘d like to have.

It is clear that the busy pace of life affects balance. It also affects our focus and our future. The shocking reality is that only 3 percent of men and women have actually taken the time to consider their future. That means,97 percent of us are just going through the motions from week to week with no plan for living the life we really want. No wonder so many people end up in their senior years regretting all the things they could have done, never took the time to do,or were simply not aware of as time slipped by.

  • If only i had travelled more. There are so many wonderful places i wanted to see but never did.
  • If only i had spent more time enjoying my family. Now the kids are gone and have their own busy lives.I don’t see much of them anymore.
  • If only i had put awaya little money over the years, may be i wouldn’t need to work so hard now.

Where do you stand on this? Is life just passing you by or are you ready to create a new picture? Wouldn’t it be better to establish some new disciplines now instead of ending up with regrets later? Jim Rohn said, “The pain of discipline weighs ounces, whereas the pain of regret weighs tons.” Think about that.

Be happy and a reason will come along- Robert Brault

Cardiovascular training

Cardiovascular activity is the key to building a strong heart and healthy lungs. Typically this activity is aerobic(aerobic means “with oxygen”) Aerobic activity includes a jog without stopping,a power walk,a high- impact aerobic class and swimming laps without stopping. Cardiovascular activity can also be a mix of aerobic and anaerobic(circuit training with weights and stationery bikes, basketbalk, tennis, volleyball or any stop-and-go activity) To achieve effective metabolic rate,it is best to do at least twenty five minutes of cardio before breakfast,or as early in the day as possible.

I know this early morning routine isn’t possible for everyone. Just get your body moving. Find an aerobic activity you can do at least three days a week. Remember, the 1 percent rule,if you are not doing any activity now, start by taking a walk twice this week. As a bonus, become aware of any situation that will keep you active. If there are stairs at work, take them. Walk to the store instead of driving. Ride a bicycle. Find as many ways to move your joints as possible. When it comes to recreation,do what you enjoy, whether it is a racket sport, hiking, throwing a frisbee, swimming, playing golf,or skiing. It’s all good.

The best exercise in the world is the one you will do- Covert Bailey

If you want to shed weight,do a cardio that provides an adequate amount of aerobic intensity (a powerwalk, jogging,a stationery bike or bike riding along a path, a swim or a step class) .Spend at least twenty five minutes at moderate intensity. Moderate is when you can speak fairly easily without losing your breath. This is best for weight management.

If you are focusing on maintenance, fitness, endurance,do a cardiovascular activity that provides you with a more intense amount of aerobics. You will be breathing heavier. During a twenty-five minute workout, you will want to stay in the high-intensity range most of the time.

Try a workout today, you will be glad you did.
